Make your Irrigation Project a Success!
Aqualine Contractors has recently been involved in an orchard irrigation project that required extending onto an existing irrigation system. Most of the trench needed to have the 250mm mainline pipe as well as a sub-main, this meant the trench had to be 400mm wide and 1 metre deepwhich normally would be dug open with a digger. However, trenching this wide just got easier!
The Quad RT80 Trencher is Aqualine Contractors specialty. Trenching with this machine is a lot more efficient in opening up a trench compared to a digger.
Being in the 'heavy' soil the trencher was able to chew its way through with ease making the soil a lot easier to work with when backfilling, no big clumps of uncooperative clay to try and place around the lateral starters. The RT80 also does a top-notch backfilling job, with only a few scratch marks visible.
Having a GPS set up on the trencher means we are able to get an accurate and straight line to follow whilst trenching. Saving you the needless worry of having incorrectly laid pipe.
Using the RT80 T
rencher helps speed up the whole project with its efficiency
, to help the orchard development rolling along. You've got nothing to lose, but everything to gain!
Aqualine Contractors are only a call away.

Over 300 tonnes of limestone later, you have an impressive solid base for the house foundations!
Last month we were out at Maraetotara enjoying the views, while working hard! This project involved; first stripping off the topsoil, shaping and stabilizing the subsoil then carting and leveling limestone to form a firm base for the house foundations.
With a lot of experience up our sleeve and the right equipment, we were able to get the base accurately level. On a job like this, compaction is key, the more you compact (roll) the limestone the firmer the base will become.
It's not only what you know, it's also who you know. Having a large number of contacts means we can likely source the specified aggregate pretty close to your property making it very easy to cart in the necessary sized product for the job. For this job over 300 tonnes of limestone was supplied and delivered.
Not only did we create the house foundation base, we also leveled out a Caravan park, so the owner can live onsite in his caravan and watch his dream house unfold. The last thing the owner wants is for his caravan to be washed off the bank, therefore we conveniently put in some efficient drainage systems, that will encapsulate the run-off water from the top of the driveway.

You can't farm efficiently if you don't have a proper water supply. That's why we are here to help!
Over the life time of Aqualine Contractors we have tapped hundreds of springs, and installed hundreds of kilometres of water pipe, giving us valuable experience.
We have just finished installing a system which involved; tapping a spring, mole ploughing, placing and installing a 30,000L tank.
With each spring being different it requires a lot of skill to get it right. The team's expertise in tapping the spring meant we were able to capture as much water as possible, resulting in sufficient flow.
One trick is to ensure you have the right size pipe from the spring to the tank to reduce the risk of airlocks.
This reliable water systems gravity feeds down to a 30,000L tank situated so the helicopter can land beside it, making the water accessible for when they need to spray the orchard with the helicopter. As every orchardist knows; trees won't thrive if they don't have the resource to do so.

Forming driveways the right way]]>https://www.aqualinecontractors.co.nz/single-post/2018/07/18/Forming-driveways-the-right-wayhttps://www.aqualinecontractors.co.nz/single-post/2018/07/18/Forming-driveways-the-right-wayWed, 18 Jul 2018 02:58:18 +0000
Our driveways are usually the first thing people see. You want it looking sharp and one that will last well!
Following a recent purchase of the house, this homeowner knew the drive needed an upgrade. Every time it rained, the surface water and drainage would run-off the road and caused havoc to the driveway.
Aqualine assessed the situation and came up with a reliable solution, resolving both the drainage and driveway issues.
We placed 3 concrete sumps to collect the surface water off the road. Placement of these were key as we needed to catch the water before it gained momentum. We then delivered this through a 6" Novaflo pipe in the bottom of the water table, this carried the bulk of the water from the sump. This 6"Novaflo could then drain excess water found in the water table. Boulders were then placed on top of the Novaflo to keep the water speed down and to prevent erosion. These boulders also add a fantastic rustic look to the landscape.
With the drainage issue solved we then could form up the drive. There isn't any point having a driveway that looks great but has been formed wrong with an unstable base. Scrapping off the original and impractical chip made way for us to create a firm and solid base. Using a recycled crushed concrete product for the base, we were able to get this rock solid as well as sustaining our environment. Using a suitable roading chip 'put the icing on the cake'.

Installing a communication cable on top of Kahuranaki is certainly not something we do every month!
Not only do we use our specialised Mole Ploughing Equipment for installing pipe, but also communication cables.
We were recently involved in a communication project which included digging 3 foundations for communication towers, and installing 2500m of ducting.
The versatility of the Ditch Witch RT80 made it simple to overcame the rugged terrain. Being able to climb steep slopes and dodge massive boulders, made the job quick and efficient.
Although we got the job done quickly, this didn't mean we drop the standard on ground disturbance! As seen on the picture above, this highly skilled machine slices through the ground with ease leaving very minimal scars.
Here's what the customer said;
"Aqualine have done a great job laying 2.5kms of fiber optic ducting for Taylor Broadband as part of the government RBI2 rural broadband initiative. We were impressed with the speed and expertise that was provided by Vern and his team. The fiber was laid on Mt Kahuranaki which is probably one of the most difficult types of terrain, we have encountered with limestone rocks and steep inclines. Aqualine was able to plow the duct into place like a knife into butter with 2.5kms completed in 2 days. Best of all, the surface impact was surprisingly minimal. We were very impressed with the finished work and will be using Aqualine again for our next challenge."

Why only supply some of your farm with a reliable water scheme when it's too easy to do it all?
A local farmer has recently upgraded his water scheme from a run-down old scheme that wasn't performing, to now having a fully function-able water scheme helping him farm with better efficiency.
Aqualine Contractors assisted this project by installing just over 1400 meters of 63mm 12bar pumping mainline with a control cable, and a little over 4000 meters of 50mm down to 32mm gravity pipe line feeding 38 new troughs.
The farmer is now more confident with his water scheme knowing he will have minimal hassles and drama with this guaranteed water scheme. He can now perform better stock rotations having a 750 litre trough precisely installed in every paddock, letting him get the maximum out of every blade of grass.
If you are looking to install a water scheme, keep your pipe practically big as possible, allowing for quicker recovery times delivering to your troughs. It's also wise to install your new troughs as close to the centre of each paddock to ensure your stock grazes each paddock evenly.

Future proofing farm Water Supply]]>Matthew Bishophttps://www.aqualinecontractors.co.nz/single-post/2018/02/19/Future-proofing-farm-Water-Supplyhttps://www.aqualinecontractors.co.nz/single-post/2018/02/19/Future-proofing-farm-Water-SupplyMon, 19 Feb 2018 03:45:24 +0000
Aqualine Contractors recently completed a Water Reticulation project including replacing the existing pumping main and gravity lines to troughs.
This recent water reticulation project involved Mole Ploughing in 3,000 meters of 63mm pipe ranging from 18bar pipe to 9bar pipe. This was pumped up to a new 30,000 litre tank, installed by our experienced team. Another 4,000 meters of 40-32mm pipe was then Mole Ploughed in gravity feeding back down to 10 newly installed 500 litre round troughs as well as his existing troughs.
How did we future proof the farmer?
Aqualine Contractors' experience made it simple to come up with a plan and system which could be relied on for years. The farmer now has full confidence that his stock will be supplied sufficiently with cool, clean water, even through the driest of conditions. Our teams efficiency while installing this system meant that we didn't get in the way of the farmers stock rotations, making sure that the cross-over of systems was minimal hassle and stock didn't run out of water. Aqualine Contractors quality workmanship has ensured the farmer that all water pipes and systems have been installed to high expectations.
